Field Session Q & A (Mitigation Only)

How do I get my field day training?

We strongly recommend that folks attend the field session portion of an in-person course as listed on the Field Session Course page. During Covid-19 in-person group field sessions are suspended through at least June 2021. Review the hands-on field session options currently available and email/call our office to select what works for you: We find the group atmosphere of the field session portion really solidifies the course content for our online folks.

If none of these sessions works, we will work with you to find a field session host in your region. Shadow hosts in many states are not able to host during Covid-19. You will likely travel 4-6 hours one way to reach them as we do not ask our trainers to train their own competition.

In either case, most folks require 2 full days to complete the field session which itself must be at least 8 hours, but is often 1.5 days to cover all the content.

What counts for field day training?  Does work experience count?

Work experience cannot be counted for the field session component. In some situations, during Covid-19, we MAY be able to count previous work experience. Please contact You must complete and approved field session or shadow day as outlined above with one of our approved trainers to meet this requirement.

Can my employer/friend/acquaintance/business partner be my shadow day host?

It is unlikely.  We have strict requirements for our trainers and shadow hosts. Especially, during Covid-19, if you think you have a contact who has been in the industry as a certified individual for many years and may meet our requirements, you are welcome to send the name, NRPP number, contact information, full time years you have worked for them if any, and we will review.
